Due to growth, we are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to work in our fast paced, high volume spay/neuter clinic. We prefer a full time employee but can utilize a part time person. •Assist Vet Tech/Vet with surgeries and medical procedures, both at our facility in Columbus, as well as in our mobile unit traveling to other counties in Ohio.
•Handling pre/post-operative patients, including sedating animals for anesthesia, and post-operative monitoring.
•Attending to patient’s anesthesia (delivering/monitoring) and performing surgical prep.
•Completing medical reports, medical logs, and maintaining controlled drug logs.
•Preparing samples for lab pick up and processing results, as well as processing and reading fecal tests.
•Handling and restraining animals.
•Communicating with staff and pet parents.
•Ordering supplies, re-stocking the mobile unit, performing inventory control and equipment maintenance.
•Cleaning and sanitizing the surgery clinic.
•Assisting with patient releases.
•Driving when necessary.
•Other duties and projects as assigned.
•A good sense of humor, must love to have fun!
•1+ years of experience, along with strong clinical skills and an understanding of animal behavior.
•Strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast paced, team environment.
•Ability to comfort, handle and restrain large and small pets.
•Passion for pet rescue and pet overpopulation prevention.
•Ability to stand, walk, kneel, stoop, and maneuver for long periods of time, lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
•Valid state driver’s license.
$3 Administration Fee per pet.
