Senate Bill 130 Hearing
(aka The Puppy Mill Bill)

Columbus Dog Connection is pleased that SB 130
 will have another hearing.
As Chairman Hite, (Senate Ag Committee) commented
in several of our hearings, no one is walking away from passing
this bill with everything they would like to see become law.

We have been working on this language for 6 yrs, having
introduced the 1st version of this language in March 2006.
Although changes have been made over the years, we are
satisfied with the language in the sub bill
(which will be introduced in this hearing).

We encourage all rescue organizations and those who
care for dogs who live in high volume kennels to support
this language.

Note:  Rescues are excluded from the regulations,
but are required to apply for a license without fee.
(as such you will see the term “rescue” defined and referred to in the bill,
this does not mean rescues are being regulated).

Inspections of rescues will only take place if a complaint is made.
Please disregard statements that say rescues are being regulated.
This language was written to allow us to avoid
“rescue” situations like the recent Clark Co Rescue with
over 400 dogs in deplorable conditions.
