Ron Blake with a little beagle we named Blakie Sad News We are sad to share the passing of Mike Hailey of Mike's Dog Cabin, an all breed dog/cat rescue in Southern Ohio. Over the year's we've taken 290 dogs and a few cats for rehoming. The brown/white dog on our logo above was one of the many wonderful dogs we rehomed. Tragically, Mike had been deceased two and half weeks before his passing was discovered. Of the 74 dogs on the property, only 13 survived. An untold number of cats also passed. We have taken 12 dogs & the 5 surviving cats. These poor animals have been through a tragic situation and we are looking to you to consider opening your heart and home to one of these pets, either on a foster or adoption basis. About half of the dogs are older (over 7 yrs). The older dogs still have so much love to give and have been through so much. Many are beagle mixes. Some are very shy. There is a 100 lb retriever mix, the most gentle soul, very friendly, very outgoing. Please consider one of the older ones to live out the rest of their years in your home. Mike Hailey dedicated his life to help the homeless dogs/cats in rural Lawrence County Ohio. Over the years, we visited Mike on several occasions to do Habitat for Dogmanity Projects, scroll to the bottom of this page to see pictures and read the story. Mike didn't have a lot of resources, but he had a heart of gold. All these years we always wanted to help Mike in a bigger way. It was always our dream to call Mike and tell him we had room to take 25 dogs at once. We only ever had a few open foster homes at a time...and unfortunately, the most dogs we ever took at one time is now, because of his passing. Read more about Mike in the Ironton Tribune We would like to finish his work with these remaining dogs & cats. We know this is a challenge as you will see the dogs are old...and a few are very very old. Please help us spread the word about this situation and our hope to give these dogs and cats a happily ever after. See all the dogs & cats that need a home. Our deepest thanks to many for making this difficult situation more manageable. ---Dr Beth Logan & the wonderful staff at Norton Rd Vet Clinic ---Amy, the Vets & Staff at Gahanna Vet Hospital ---Pet Palace for boarding assistance ---Lisa Dudley & Bob Zimmerman for transporting many of the dogs from S Ohio & fostering Judy ---Shirley Weber, our fellow rescue friend who transported & is temporarily fostering Dinah ---Ron Blake, a friend to Mike Hailey for many years and assisted with on site rescue of Blakie (hence the name) ---Helen Cullison ---Our staff, Dr Jayme Beinlich & Kristi Krumlauf ---Penny Jaffe ---Penny at Wheelersburg Vet Hospital ---The Staff at the Lawrence County Dog Shelter

![]() The Puppy Mill Bill, aka Senate Bill 130 Passes Senate Floor with 33-0 vote Passes Senate Committee with 9-0 vote Dispatch Article Dispatch Article As Chairman Hite, commented "no one is walking away from passing this bill with everything they would like to see become law" 1st introduced in March 2006, many changes have been made over the years. We finally have all interested parties satisfied with the language. We encourage all rescue organizations and those who care about dogs who live in high volume kennels to support this language.
